Create Your Own Podcast with AI
Learn how to create a podcast using artificial intelligence with Google NotebookLM, and explore an alternative version that generates podcasts in other languages, as Portuguese.
Have you ever imagined how amazing it would be to have your own podcast with no effort? In this post, we'll show you how it's possible using NotebookLM, as well as an alternative version that generates podcasts in Portuguese.
What is Google NotebookLM?
NotebookLM is a note-taking and AI-powered research assistant developed by Google. It uses the Gemini 1.5 Pro AI model to analyze documents, create summaries, and generate insights from the data provided.
It’s a highly useful tool for students, teachers, journalists, and anyone dealing with large amounts of text. You can access it through this link:

Creating a Podcast with Your LinkedIn Data
For fun, let’s create a podcast that talks about ourselves, using our LinkedIn profile for this.
Note that NotebookLM simplifies turning our notes and documents into engaging podcasts, making it very useful for educational and creative projects.
Go to NotebookLM and create a new notebook.
In "Add sources," choose the Link / Site option, paste your LinkedIn profile URL, and click Insert, as shown in the images below:
The application will fetch data from the page and load it into the knowledge base. From now on, you can interact with NotebookLM and ask anything about yourself!
The tool should have opened the “Notebook Guide” screen, and now you just need to click the Generate button to create the podcast (in English).
This will take a few minutes.
And it’s ready!! Just click to play, or if you prefer, you can download the podcast to listen later.
Note that for now, NotebookLM only generates audio in English.
Alternative Version – Podcast in Portuguese
You can also create a podcast in other languages, as Portuguese, using an open-source version created by Gabriel Chua.
All source code is available at https://github.com/gabrielchua/open-notebooklm, but you can simply access the demo page: https://huggingface.co/spaces/gabrielchua/open-notebooklm.
To create a podcast that discusses your LinkedIn profile, follow these steps.
First, go to your LinkedIn profile page, and in the About section, click to expand the text.
Now print the page to PDF and save the file on your computer.
With this application, we will read our information from the PDF and not the LinkedIn link, because if we pass the LinkedIn link directly, the application will get stuck on the login screen and won’t read our information.
Go to the demo page and drop the PDF file into the Upload area.
Change the settings as shown below and click Submit:
Short (1-2 min) to avoid long processing times.
Portuguese as the language.
While it processes, you can take a coffee break, as the process takes several minutes (depending on the number of requests in the queue).
And it’s ready!! The application generates the audio in Portuguese and shows the description of what will be said in the podcast below.
Conclusion
In this article, we explored how to use Google’s innovative NotebookLM to effortlessly create our own podcasts.
With its ability to process and synthesize selected sources, NotebookLM transforms traditional notes into a dynamic tool that not only helps organize information but also generates valuable insights and audio content.
Although we used NotebookLM in a light-hearted way, the tool offers tremendous potential for various applications, from enhancing studies and academic projects to creating professional content, providing an efficient and creative way to turn knowledge into accessible formats.
We also saw an alternative, open-source method to generate podcasts in Portuguese, which, although not yet fully developed, holds great potential to evolve over time.
